MUNICIPAL ART GALLERY
1
With stubbornness and dream…
After the creation of the Municipal summer cinema on the beach, the Municipal Authority started in 2017 the effort for the creation of the Municipal Gallery of Alimos.
The collection of works of art has begun and to date 70 great paintings by leading Greek painters have been collected and constitute the initial core of the art collection that belongs to the Municipality and that we aspire to be a first class “yeast” for the Alimos Gallery with a permanent collection and building will meet the needs of a modern gallery.
Paleo Faliro, Glyfada, Kallithea, Piraeus and several other municipalities have their galleries. So it’s time for Alimos to get the Municipal Gallery he deserves. To have our city acquire a space of artistic expression and education for all our citizens and especially for young people.
We envision a permanent home for Art and Culture, where the students of our schools will be able to visit and be guided free of charge. It is a right for children to have contact with art and true entertainment, which unfortunately only some privileged people can enjoy.
We also aspire to make our Municipal Gallery a pole of attraction for visitors, Greeks and foreigners, a perspective that will contribute to the tourist and economic development of our city.
Some find in our country a climate of flattening and decline. We say “no” to resignation and say “yes” to hope, creation and quality of life. That’s why we keep trying!
In our Municipality, five art exhibitions have already been held in the area of the Cultural Center with the valuable help of the art historian and professor of EKPA, Mr. Manos Stefanidis.
