TASKS

 

Indicatively, among other responsibilities of the office are:

  • Keeps the Registry books provided by law (births, marriages, deaths, reports) and registers in these relevant registration events and any changes (adoption, recognition, etc.).
  • Keeps the auxiliary registry books, ie protocols and indexes and the records of the registry records.
  • Issues copies, excerpts and certificates from the registers and supporting documents of documents that exist in its archive.
  • Prepares annual statements with excerpts of birth certificates and forwards them to the respective Municipalities for the compilation of annual Registers of Males.
  • Conducts official correspondence in all issues within its competence and keeps the relevant file and generally acts in accordance with the legislation in force at the time.
  • Undertakes the handling of any procedures related to civil weddings and regarding their performance.
